Banned books? September 21-27 is national Banned Books Week. Many books have been banned in small parts of America for whatever reasons and I'm about to talk about some of them! In case you want to see the list of books I'm looking off of, here it is

Banned Books List
To summarize why this book series was banned in some places, complaints against the book series claimed that the books contain "excessive violence" and that the books depicted occult or satanic themes. They also claimed that the books provoked harmful thoughts and behavior.
I first read a Goosebumps book when I was in 1st-2nd grade and it NEVER made me think any harmful thoughts or made me violent in any way. I obviously don't agree with this ban for many reasons. Onto the next book!

Really? I honestly don't know why this book would be banned...When reading these books I thought they were hilarious and pretty clever in their flip animation thingies near the end of each book. After reading the books I found no need to behave differently than before I read it. As for the reason of their ban, apparently the series was banned in some schools for insensitivity and being unsuited to the age group, also for "encouraging children to disobey authority"
I can understand if elementary schools ban books meant for older kids (like in high school), but there are times when schools cross the line between reason and complete ridiculousness. The only time I think books should be banned are when the books depict EXTREME amounts of offensive content that can be considered offensive for people of all ages. We can't start banning everything we think is inappropriate like some other countries do, people would be outraged! Imagine a world where we can't read, write or listen to music at all unless it strictly follows the country's beliefs, just like how Germany was when the Nazis were still around. I'm mostly against the banning of anything except for extreme cases. Other than those rare cases, we should be free to read whatever we feel like reading.
