The internet is amazing but there are times where I absolutely cannot stand it. The best way to specify what I mean is by dividing the internet into three categories: The good, the bad and the ugly.
The internet is an amazing that has only really been around for my generation. It has a ton of potential to do great things, and it already has! That’s something that many people of older generations don’t really understand, they think that it’s just a new form of entertainment, which it is most of the time. Most teenagers these days would say that they would rather watch a famous youtuber’s videos rather than a famous actor’s movies. These youtubers have such great fan-bases that some will actually start live streams solely for the purpose of making money for different charities. For example, ALS or better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease was made famous with the ice bucket challenge. Many people know about the disease until a massive wave of YouTube videos containing people pouring ice on themselves became viral. Times have changed and now people are making a living by doing different jobs on the internet such as news reporting, YouTube, game developing, etc. The internet has done so much good in the world that it’s hard to believe all of the bad things about it.
So many good things have happened thanks to the internet, but even so, there is almost an equal amount of bad things to combat the good. To name a few, terrorist groups around the world have boarded the train which is the internet. The terrorist group ISIS actually has a youtube channel and is recruiting new people through social media like . It’s kind of hard to believe but you could actually watch a video of ISIS unboxing a package of explosives that America sent to the Kurds but unfortunately went astray. The mainstream media (specifically news programs) have taken advantage of the internet to spread twittermore biased news to a wider audience. People from around the world now know the situation that America is in with much more detail. On a lighter note, there are no lies on the internet. Wikipedia is a great source that is very creditable. I know it’s true because Wikipedia said so.

The internet is not black or white but is very gray. With all of the good and bad the internet has done, there is one thing that will never change: The people. The internet is full of what the internet calls “trolls”. If you’re not aware of what a troll is, it is a person who hates and bashes something or someone regardless of their actual thoughts on the subject. They do it just to mess with people, otherwise known as “trolling”. Nothing can be done about trolls, it’s honestly a lost cause if you’re responding to these people. Although most of the haters on the internet are trolls, some of them are actually people who are genuine about what they say, even if what they say can be irritating. I’m going to hearken back to my first blog post about a girl who took a selfie at Auschwitz. People went nuts over that. My main point was that people get way too offended over little things and that they should really just calm down. It’s pretty sad that we've gotten to the point where content creators on the internet have had to quit because of trolls and people who only watch the content to advertise their own content, which can get super annoying at times.
Although the internet can be a huge pain at times, there’s no denying that it has great potential. Only time will tell if it will fully use that potential . If I had to pick one phrase to describe this generation, it would simply be “the internet”.
