Are people offended way too easily? Everybody who is genuinely offended by this needs to take a biiiiig step back and calm down. I guess I should explain in further detail.

“Auschwitz Selfie Girl Breanna Mitchell Defends Her Controversial Picture.”
Of course, the internet went absolutely crazy over this like they do over every single thing that offends them in the slightest possible way. This is my take on it:
People get offended by every single thing that happens and they get angry without actually looking into the situation for more than 5 minutes. The girl claims that she took the selfie in remembrance of her father who had passed away. Whether this is true or not cannot be proven except by “downloading the contents of her brain”- Cooper MacNicholl. That aside, no matter how you look at it, the picture doesn’t show a desperate teenager disrespecting the people who died there for fame, it shows a girl taking a selfie! Terrible things happened at Auschwitz but that happened a long time ago. The people who died here would not want us to dwell on the past.
After all of this happened she commented “I’m famous y’all”. The people who are using this against her obviously don’t know what sarcasm is. I’m sure if anybody else got popular because of something like this they would also be fairly happy with being under the spotlight for a few weeks.
We as a society have become so desensitized to things that would normally be extremely offensive *cough* Miley Cyrus and other stuff *cough* that it’s surprising to me that people are making a big deal out of the girl’s selfie. I have to deal with my dad constantly saying how the current generation of kids are extremely desensitized to mature and offensive content. It really depends on the parent’s ability to teach their kids on what should be offensive and what shouldn’t. It seems like it’s split on whether or not the selfie Breanna Mitchell took was the right thing to do.
I feel like a broken record but I must state this again; anybody who is making a big deal out of this needs to understand that the internet is full of stuff that’s even worse than a girl taking a selfie and that they will not be even remotely able to handle that other offensive content if they continue thinking with their narrow and sensitive mindset.
Instead of criticizing a teenager we should start worrying about some bigger problems in this day and age such as ISIS and other worldwide problems. When it comes down to it, this is just a case of the internet getting angry over nothing. I try to look at the world through an optimistic lens, by doing so I’m not easily offended by things that other people would find inappropriate. If you start looking at situations from more than one point of view, you start to understand that everyone on the internet isn’t trying to offend people, but are actually trying to make a point or honor someone, like Breanna Mitchell did for her father.
